About me
In his 16-year career, sports anchor Will Selva has covered major athletic events, as well as professional and amateur teams, and anchored some of the top-rated sports shows on cable television. A native of San Francisco, where he grew up speaking Spanish, he graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory and attended Arizona State University on scholarships. Upon receiving a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism, Will Selva accepted a position as a feature reporter at KRON 4/Bay TV in San Francisco, where he also filled in at the sports desk for evening broadcasts. <br/><br/>Subsequently, Will Selva joined KXTV in Sacramento as Sports Director. As evening sports anchor, he generated and produced all content, covering Sacramento and Bay Area professional teams and high school sports. When the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets met in two preseason games in Beijing and Shanghai, Will Selva became the only local broadcast sports journalist to cover the games. <br/><br/>In 2005, Will Selva joined CNN as a sports anchor on CNN, CNN Headline News, and Morning Express with Robin Meade (formerly Robin & Company). Will Selva covered major sporting events on location, such as the Kentucky Derby and Super Bowl, reporting for CNN Headline News, CNN Domestic, and CNN International. Other duties for the cable network included hosting a one-hour CNN Radio special on the NCAA Menâ??s Basketball Tournament and hosting a segment of Americaâ??s Favorite Cities. <br/><br/>A familiar face on ESPN since 2007, Will Selva has anchored or hosted Baseball Tonight, College Football Live, SportsCenter, First Take, and other high-profile shows. He anchored ESPNâ??s coverage of the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship on ESPN2 and has interviewed LeBron James and other top sports personalities, as well as celebrities unrelated to sports, including actor Will Ferrell. Based in Bristol, Connecticut, Will Selva also has provided real-time translation of a Spanish-language press conference.
