Theanna Zika founded Heavenly Helpers Senior Home Care in 2004 with only $5,000 and a strong determination to succeed. Five years later, Heavenly Helpers has expanded to more than $1 million in gross revenue. At present, Theanna Zika oversees more than 60 caregivers, a three person office staff and approximatly 40 clients. Theanna is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business, from operations to marketing. With the recent downturn in the economy, Ms. Zika has been trying to get out of the office more to network. "After you begin to grow, it is easy to start spending more and more time in the office dealing with issues, but that can become a problem. I am reminding myself that I do the most good for my agency when I am out there talking and connecting to people", remarks Theanna.

By setting all policies and procedures for Heavenly Helpers Home Care, Theanna Zika ensures the highest standards are maintained. For instance, all Heavenly Helpers caregivers go through three interviews and a background check before ever being placed with a client. An applicant who calls in must first go through a prescreening phone interview conducted by the office manager. If that is satisfactory, the applicant is invited in for an interview in the office conducted by the Case Manager. After sucessfully completing that interview as well as a background check, the applicant is invited for the third and final interview and orientation which is conducted by Theanna Zika herself. Theanna personally sits down with the applicants and talks to them about what it means to be a care giver with this agency. Ms. Zika goes through the Employee Handbook all the while inviting comments and conversation. This helps her with her evaluation of the condidates and enables her to put her final stamp of approval on a particular applicant.
