About me
Pete Acampora is making the most of his retirement by getting paid to do what he loves - officiating volleyball games. An expert volleyball player, coach, and now referee, Mr. Acampora has been profiled in an article in Referee Magazine. His more than 30 years of high school softball, volleyball, football, and wrestling coaching experience have given Mr. Acampora exceptional experience in the athletic arena, and makes him uniquely suited to a referee position. Mr. Acampora has also founded the NYC-Westchester CHSAA Boys Volleyball League, which gives young men in the Westchester area an opportunity to compete with their peers and improve their volleyball skills. Mr. Pete Acampora retired after an illustrious 35 year career as a teacher, mentor, coach, and Athletic administrator. He worked as a Business and Physical Education teacher, football, basketball, and softball coach, and Athletic Director at Ardsley High School in New York for 17 years. In this position, Mr. Acampora's responsibilities included directing all aspects of the Ardsley High School athletic programs, as well as school and community recreation programs. After his time at Ardsley High School, Pete Acampora served multiple positions as a teacher, coach, and athletic administrator at Salesian High School. Under his leadership, the school's athletic program expanded from only two teams to eleven, allowing more students to participate in athletics. Mr. Pete Acampora studied Business Administration as an undergraduate student, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University. Later in his career, Mr. Acampora earned his Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from Pace University, which trained him as a skilled business manager specializing in educational institution organization. In addition to refereeing volleyball games, Pete Acampora enjoys exercising, antiquing, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
