Paul Ekon, a highly respected international businessman and investor, is a firm believer in aiding those less fortunate than himself. He has spent years in helping to build churches and community centers in Soweto, a suburb of his native Johannesburg, that doles out nutritious meals to the local orphans every day. When he first joined with Reverend Siphu Benghu to build a Faithways Church, it became a center to feed about 100 orphans daily. He continued to build four more locations and the centers now feed hundreds of poor local children who arrive at their doors every day. In addition, he built a large hall for the Rhema Church, also used as a center for distributing food to children.<br/>Paul Ekon worked at Paratus as a professional photographer in 1976. After leaving that position, he relocated to Los Angeles and worked as an independent photographer but returned to Johannesburg in 1979 to enter the entertainment and food and beverage industry. After establishing several restaurants, such as Harpers, Hot Tin Roof and Walnut Grove, he began selling toiletries and cosmetics. Some of the popular lines that he represented were Jordache, Chicco, Barbara Barnard, Hang Ten and Yvonne Chaka Chaka.<br/>He also opened a factory to produce door handles and door knobs and managed it successfully for several years. When cheap imports became readily available, he sold the factory and reinvested the profits into other businesses.<br/>Paul Ekon is currently a venture capitalist who invests in the diamond industry, such as New African Mining. He is also a director and investor in MTI, a computer company that creates specialized programs for use in the international banking industry. He left South Africa and now lives in London, where he manages his investments and companies.<br/>Paul Ekon, born in 1959, grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa and received his education from the exclusive St. Stithians College.<br/>
