Known for her strong focus on student achievement, financial solvency, teacher quality, and parent and community involvement, Leslye Abrutyn is a well-established and successful educator and leader. Leslye Abrutyn possesses almost four decades of management and teaching experience, with a demonstrated capability of facilitating the development of excellent performing schools and districts while building strong relationships within the school community. In her most recent position from 1997 to 2007, Leslye Abrutyn served as Superintendent of Schools with the Penn-Delco School District in Aston, Pennsylvania, where she oversaw 6 schools, 3,300 students, 25 administrators, 500 district personnel, and an operating budget in excess of $50 million. Leslye Abrutyn’s strong leadership approach and ability to identify and resolve challenges with vigor and insight produced an incline in achievement trends and a reduction in achievement gaps. In addition, Leslye Abrutyn’s efforts enhanced productivity and creative program development. Throughout her career as an educational professional, Leslye Abrutyn has been recognized for her comprehensive knowledge of and superlative achievements in the field. In 2006, her alma mater Boston University honored Leslye Abrutyn with the Dean Arthur Herbert Wilde Society Award for her longtime service to the profession of education; she was selected among 34,000 Boston University alumni. Earlier, Leslye Abrutyn received the Spirit of Excellence Award for Individual Business Achievement from the Friends of Delaware County Women’s Commission, as well as the EI/John Kresovich Award for Innovation and Use of Technology from the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and EI Associates. Temple University, from where Leslye Abrutyn earned both her M.Ed. and Ed.D., added her to the school’s esteemed “Gallery of Success” education hall of fame.
