Lawrence Pross’ participation in the High Rock Challenge exemplifies both his professional determination and his commitment to his community. Established in memory of John Kelly, a New York City police officer who was killed in the line of duty, the High Rock Challenge covers about 10 kilometers in the Greenbelt Trail System in an annual adventure race on Staten Island. Lawrence Pross and other contestants in the race face a host of physical and mental challenges in teams of two. The challenges range from scaling walls to hoisting sandbags to deciphering word scrambles and similar brainteasers. Successful completion of the race requires athletic stamina, intelligence, and the ability to work with team members. The skills Lawrence Pross calls on to meet the High Rock Challenge are the same that have made him a success in business. An executive in two flourishing companies, one of which he founded, Lawrence Pross oversees fast-moving daily operations and monitors complex transactions. As a manager of more than 30 direct employees, he understands the value of teamwork and in motivating people to do their best. With more than 10 years of practical business experience, he has the problem-solving skills necessary to stay on top of the inevitable crises that arise. Most importantly, however, he is motivated to give back to his community. Aside from his membership in the High Rock Challenge honoring officer John Kelly’s memory, Lawrence Pross is an active supporter of many other worthy charitable organizations, including the American Red Cross and the March of Dimes Foundation.
