About me

Jeff Parnell Pilot
European incursions

Inthe meantime, European manufacturers, gone from the Indianapolis 500 for nearly two decades, made a brief return just before World War II, with the competitive Maserati 8CM allowing Wilbur Shaw to become the first driver to win consecutively at Indianapolis in 1941. With the 500 having been a part of the Formula One World Drivers' Championship between 1950 and 1960, Ferrari made a discreet appearance at the 1952 event with Alberto Ascari, but European entries were few and far between during those days.

FutureIndyCar Formula

New IndyCar chassis and engines were originally expected in 2011, now will not be available until 2012 at earliest, and may be delayed until even later.. According to IRL President of Competition Brian Barnhart, officials are deciding whether to retain Dallara as exclusive chassis supplier, or to allow multiple chassis manufacturers.

InDecember 2009 existence of a top secret chassis project headed by former Lola lead designer Ben Bowlsby was revealed. According to SpeedTV's Robin Miller, Bowlsby with the backing of his boss Chip Ganassi and multiple team owners have formed a company known as Delta Wing and plan to reveal their "revolutionary" car design on February 10th, 2010 at the Chicago Auto February 4th, 2010, the IRL revealed it had received chassis proposals from veteran builders Lola and Swift in addition to Delta Wing and Dallara and that it hoped to reach a decision in the next three months. The same day, the IRL released its guidelines for selecting the new chassis – these include safety, raceability, cost effectivity, American production and fuel efficiency.

JeffParnell Pilot:IndyCar Series engines are rev-limited to 10,300 rpm and produce approximately 650 hp. The valve train is a dual overhead camshaft configuration with four valves per cylinder. The crankshaft is made of alloy steel, with five main bearing caps. Key skills

About Jeffrey Parnell
Sports prototypes, unlike GT cars, do not rely on road legal cars as a base. They are closed wheel and often closed cockpit purpose built race cars intended mainly for endurance racing. They have much lower weight and more down force compared to GT cars making them much faster. They are raced in the 24 hours of Lemans and in the (European) Lemans series, Asian Lemans series and the American Lemans series ALMS. These cars are referred to as LMP (Lemans prototype) cars with LMP1 being run mainly by manufactures and the slightly less powerful LMP2 cars run by privater teams.

The first purpose built racing circuits

TheMilwaukee Mile is the oldest motor racing track in the world, with racing being held there since 1903. It was not, however, purpose built for motor racing, starting life as a one-mile (1.6 km) horse racing track in the 19th century.
A remaining section of the Brooklands track today
Brooklands in Surrey, England was the first purpose built motor racing venue, opening in June 1907. It featured a 4.43 km (3 mi) concrete track with high-speed banked corners. Brooklands was also a centre of the aviation industry, with Vickers setting up a factory and aerodrome there during World War I. The racing circuit was closed in 1939 as war-time aircraft production took over. Damage done to the track during World War II meant the track never reopened for racing.

AboutJeffrey Parnell:With auto construction and racing dominated by France, the French automobile club ACF staged a number of major international races, usually from or to Paris, connecting with another major city, in France or elsewhere in Europe.

Thesevery successful races ended in 1903 when Marcel Renault was involved in a fatal accident near Angoulême in the Paris-Madrid race. Nine fatalities caused the French government to stop the race in Bordeaux and ban open-road racing.

AboutJeffrey Scott Parnell
IndyCar Series engines are rev-limited to 10,300 rpm and produce approximately 650 hp.
