About me
James D. Culea started his business career at the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1967. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and went on to earn his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. Mr. Culea graduated at the top of his class at Kansas and was elected as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, a national honor society for business students. In 1972, James D. Culea started working for General Mills, Inc., in Minneapolis. He began in market research and soon moved on to product management. As an Assistant Product Manager, his responsibilities included identifying new business opportunities and managing strategic plans and budgets for General Mills' popular Cheerios brand. Mr. Culea was quickly promoted to Product Manager for the Bac-Os brand and split time between brand marketing and introducing new product lines through acquisition or via internal development. <br/><br/>In 1978, James D. Culea left General Mills to work at S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., in Racine, Wisconsin. He spent three years as Product Manager for several of the company's cleaning brands, including Shout Stain Remover. Under his guidance, the team was able to develop and introduce Liquid Shout, which at the time quickly became the leading brand in the marketplace. After successfully increasing brand sales by almost 50 percent over a 2-year period, James D. Culea was promoted to Group Product Manager of S.C. Johnson & Son's entire Home Care Division. Among his responsibilities were creating sales and generating profits for floor, laundry, and other home care cleaning products. Mr. Culea successfully reversed several declining brands, grew dollar sales, increased profit margins, and developed the division's first strategic plan over a five-year period. <br/><br/>Today, James D. Culea serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Northern Labs, Inc., in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a firm that produces liquid and paste cleaning solutions for a number of clients, including several leading Fortune 500 companies.
