About me
A naturalized American citizen, Ifeoma Obodozie knows how education can change the life of a child. Throughout her career as an elementary school teacher, vice principal, and principal, Ifeoma Obodozie has been committed to helping each student get the most out of his or her education. <br/><br/>In addition to serving as an elementary school teacher, Ifeoma Obodozie also worked as a Coordinator for the California Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. This program finds gifted students and exposes them to specialized education experiences designed to augment their abilities. Additionally, Ifeoma Obodozie functioned as a Coordinator for the National Spelling Bee, and one of her students became the first ever to represent their district at the National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. She was one of the teachers in her district to successfully pioneer the Full Inclusion model, whereby students with special needs are integrated into mainstream general education classrooms. <br/><br/>Ifeoma Obodozie’s passion for education extends to people of all ages and abilities. After teaching at the elementary school level, she worked as Vice Principal for the Livermore Adult Education Program and Vineyard Alternative High School, also in Livermore. Ifeoma Obodozie also served as a Summer School Principal, Professional Development Lead Teacher, and a Reading Facilitator. Due to her expertise and experience, the Alameda County Office of Education asked her to co-author a character education program. <br/><br/>As the Principal at Joaquin Miller Elementary School, Ifeoma Obodozie was awarded the Academic Excellence Award from the District Superintendent for developing and implementing a plan that resulted in a dramatic increase in test scores. <br/><br/>Ifeoma Obodozie earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Hayward in 2004. <br/>
