Travel professional Gavin Tollman is a native South African who uses his prominence in the tourism industry to help promote and strengthen that country's visibility and accessibility as a popular travel destination. Increased tourism to South Africa strengthens local economies, builds important social networks and opens up newly discovered destinations for vacationers. <br/><br/>Tourism Professional<br/><br/>After studying finance at a US university, the American University, Gavin Tollman became the Executive Vice President for Buckhead Hotel Management Company. He was responsible for the hotelâ??s operations and during the hotel industryâ??s financial crises he was successful in finding third party refinancing and restructuring the hotelâ??s debts. <br/>In 1997 he migrated to Trafalgar USA. As President he expanded its list of destinations and developed the company into the largest operator of European tours in the US. Within a number of years Gavin Tollman was named President of The Travel Corporation North America, making him responsible for promotions and management of Insight Vacations, Destination America, AAT Kings, Contiki Holidays and of course, Trafalgar Tours. <br/><br/>Current Positions<br/><br/>In 2003 Gavin Tollman returned to Trafalgar Tours as CEO where he is responsible for all international sales, promotion, product development and delivery for all of the company's travel itineraries. In addition, he is Chairman of TTC SA, which works with the South African government to develop an attractive image to tourism professionals. He represents such South African tourism brands as â??African Travel Inc.â?� and â??Lion World Toursâ?�. Such tour programs were created to not only entice travelers to the region but also to help stabilize the national economy through the positive impact that increased tourism promises. Gavin Tollman is also a non-executive director at â??Wilderness Safarisâ?� and at â??Cullinan Holdings Limitedâ?�.<br/>

The Travel Corporation Global Conference<wbr/><br/><wbr/><br/>The<wbr/>Travel Corporation chose Cape Town South Africa as the venue for its Global Sales Conference in 2010. By doing so, the company invited 350 tourism professionals from The Travel Corporation to discover the hidden beauties of South Africa. <br/><br/>During the week-long conference, the delegates saw the country up close as they traveled and explored the area. Delegates also met with local tourism officials and helped plan and create potential travel schedules for promotional purposes. Along with touring and learning, they wanted to do something worthwhile for the less fortunate residents of the country, so they spent a day volunteering and building "Wendy Homes" through a non-profit organization. In addition, they invited about 600 children to a fun day at an amusement park.
