Farryn Melton is the Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing and Chief Procurement Officer at Amgen Inc., the world’s largest independent biotechnology company. In her position as Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, Farryn is responsible for $4-5B in indirect and direct spend and project spend around the globe. The responsible spend activity includes all spend in the areas of corporate (I.S., Human Resorces, Corporate Communications, Legal and Finance), research and development, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. Ms. Melton is also responsible for Amgen's global travel operations, meetings, and events and is accountable for global procurement systems management and supplier development & management and supplier diversity. Before bringing her talents to Amgen, Farryn Melton was the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing for the Americas at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation in East Hanover, New Jersey. In this position, Farryn Melton was responsible for more than $2 billion. Farryn Melton played a pivotal role in the integration of procurement of pharmaceutical, consumer, infant and baby care, generics, animal health, medical nutrition, and eye care divisions in the Novartis business. With 100 people under her supervision, Farryn Melton led the way to successfully transition the procurement organization from a tactical, non-centralized one to a more integrated, strategic sourcing company. Also a significant achievement, Farryn Melton put in place many successful regional and global management programs in the divisions of Marketing, Information Technology, Corporate Services, Engineering, and in Laboratory Supplies, Chemicals and Equipment.
