The Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kim J. Hammond, has practiced veterinary medicine since earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1981. In 1982, Dr. Kim Hammond started Falls Road Animal Hospital, the first 24-hour, full service emergency veterinary practice in Maryland. To this day, Falls Road remains the only 24-hour full service Veterinary Hospital in Baltimore Maryland. In its first year, Falls Road Animal Hospital's 2 doctors saw 1,500 office calls. By the year 2000, the practice had expanded to twelve doctors, with a staff exceeding 130, servicing over 75,000 office calls yearly. In 2008 Dr. Kim Hammond was nationally recognized as one of Americas Top Veterinarians in Emergency Medicine and Surgery. In addition he was awarded the honor of Outstanding Veterinary Contributor. Dr. Kim Hammond received an MBA in 1994. He is also Master Farrier and Pilot. <wbr/><br/> <wbr/><br/>While <wbr/>working full-time at the animal hospital, Dr. Kim Hammond is currently the editor and co-host of a weekly pet segment that airs live on WBAL, Channel 11 in Baltimore. Dr. Kim Hammond has vast international exposure. Working for the Peace Corp in Niger Africa, he led a team of five U.S. veterinarians and twenty four Peace Corp volunteers to assist local authorities in rehabilitating and strengthening the operations of The Niamey Museum Zoo, Wildlife Game Reserves and the last free roaming giraffes in West Africa. In 2003, Dr. Kim Hammond initiated a Zoo Veterinary-Training program at Falls Road Animal Hospital to provide opportunities for small animal veterinarians to gain zoological experience. <br/><br/>In 2004 Dr. Kim Hammond led a team of two veterinarians from the Baltimore Zoo and one veterinarian from NASA to the Costa Rican Sloth Rescue, and began a medical and animal exchange program. In 2006 Dr. Kim Hammond formed the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Training Program. Mountain Gorilla Veterinarians from Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have participated, in residence, in an internship at the Falls Road Animal Hospital in Baltimo
