An expert in hospitality, D.J. Montano has held an international array of positions at some of the world’s finest establishments, including the Hotel Arts-Ritz Carlton in Spain and the Hotel Christiania in Switzerland. The former Managing Director for Montage Hospitality Concepts, D.J. Montano played a key role in establishing the boutique restaurant concept in the Philippines. D.J. Montano’s concept found an enthusiastic reception with the inception of Raj Indian Restaurant, Acquario Liquid Lounge, and Annam Vietnamese Cuisine. D.J. Montano also utilized his organizational skills to coordinate a variety of events, which have been covered by publications ranging from Town & Country Philippines to a supplement in The New York Times. With over a decade of professional experience, D.J. Montano also served as a writer for The Philippine Star from 2003 to 2008, where he helped pioneer the widely read “Y Style” section. D.J. Montano’s expertise within the dining industry, as well as various cultures, led to his coverage of a number of high profile events, such as the Ritz Carlton New World Food and Wine Festival in Singapore. Possessing an eye for cutting-edge style, D.J. Montano also regularly created, produced, and styled photo shoots for the newspaper’s men's fashion features. Passionate about helping others in both a professional and personal capacity, D.J. Montano actively supports charitable organizations dedicated to helping children. D.J. Montano played an instrumental role in the founding of the Malate-Nakpil Street Children Foundation. D.J. Montano matriculated at Switzerland’s Ecole Les Roches, where he studied the fine art of international hospitality management. As a student, D.J. Montano consistently demonstrated the tenacity and passion that has become a hallmark of his career. In addition to his Associate diploma, D.J. Montano holds a degree in European Studies from De La Salle University in Manila.
