Pemberton Township High School’s Deborah Ives, a dedicated classroom educator, has also given her time and energy to advancing mathematics education as a whole. Deborah Ives is the former President of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey and remains dedicated to the society, though her involvement represents but one of her many professional achievements. <br/> <br/>Deborah Ives’s career began with a commitment to her own education. An accelerated undergraduate at Kean State University, Deborah Ives then earned an in Mathematics and was the first to obtain a degree from the doctoral program at Montclair State University. Deborah Ives completed her dissertation under the guidance of Evan Maletsky, Max Sobel, James Fey, and Tamara Lucas. <br/> <br/>Since 2004, Deborah Ives has been involved with the State of New Jersey Department of Education. That year, Deborah Ives was an NJ ASK Proficiency-Setting Panelist for Grade 3 and Grades 5-7, and she has continued to serve the State through participation in Phases I and II of the Standards Clarification Project, the Special Review Assessment Advisory Council, and the Math Task Force. Recognized with the New Jersey Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award, Deborah Ives has also been a nominee for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. <br/> <br/>In 2009, Deborah L. Ives was inducted into the Alpha Pi chapter of Alpha Epsilon Lambda, the Graduate Honor Society of Kean University, and delivered the society’s keynote speech. In addition, Deborah Ives is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, the New Jersey Education Association, and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. <br/> <br/>A resident of Barnegat Light, New Jersey, Deborah Ives enjoys bicycling and operating her seasonal company, Ives Fives Seasons Rentals, each summer.
