Outside of her myriad responsibilities as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist with the Obstetrix Medical Group in San Jose, California, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney enjoys outdoor activities such as running and hiking. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney especially favors aquatic hobbies and frequently finds the time necessary to go swimming, snorkeling, and jet skiing. An avid reader, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney prefers cookbooks, biographies, and books about history. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney spent many of her formative years in Sweden, and maintains fluency in Swedish, English, and Spanish, and competency in conversational German. Following an extensive education consisting of medical school in Sweden and a sub-internship, an internship, a residency, and a fellowship in the United States, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney commenced her career with a Staff Perinatologist position at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney left the medical center one year later and held the same title at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California from 2001 to 2002. After parting ways with Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney moved downstate and, for one year, acted as an Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine. In 2003, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney joined the Obstetrix Medical Group and reprised her role as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney moved back to Northern California in 2007, continuing her work with the Obstetrix Medical Group at the company’s San Jose office. Board certified in obstetrics, gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. Cecilia Gaffaney gives presentations to rapt audiences of her peers at conferences such as the Annual Meeting of the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians, the Annual Meeting of the Teratology Society, and the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
