About me
Award-winning lawyer Pearl Eliadis has put her commitment to human rights causes to work with numerous governments and non-governmental organizations. Her expertise has been utilized by the governments and intergovernmental organzations for Iraq, Nepal, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Tajikistan, to name a few. Retainers include legislative drafting for humanrights laws, organzational development and evaluation of national human rights insitutions and ombudsperson insitutions and women's rights. <br/><br/>Her career commenced with one of Canada's preeminent national law firms, Stikeman Elliott LLP., after when she moved in the federal and provincial public sectors. Pearl Eliadis currently heads her law firm in Montreal which focuses exclusively on human rights, naitonal humanr ights insitutions and dmocratice governance. Eliadis is a member of the Quebec, Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations and has been appointed to specialist human rights committees in Quebec and Ontario.<br/><br/>Pearl Eliadis received her Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Laws and CIvil Law degrees from McGill University in Montreal. At University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, she completed a Masters-level degree. <br/><br/>Pearl Eliadis' involvement in women's rights brought her to serve on the legal team for "160 Girls" of The Equality Effect; in this capacity, she defended the rights and raises awareness for victims of sexual violent in sub-Saharan Africa. She is the recipient of a special commemorative medal that was struck to mark the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, and the "Woman of Distinction" award the Women's Y Foundation (Montreal). Pearl Eliadis is on the Board of Directors at The Equality Effect and the Shield of Athena, and also serves on the Honourary Board of Directors at Equitas. <br/><br/>
