About me
Mr. Nicholas Beim received his secondary education at Phillips Andover Academy and graduated as a member of the Cum Laude Society. Nicholas Beim continued his education at Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with Honors and Distinction. At Stanford, Nicholas Beim received the Rhinelander Award and the Fairclough Award for outstanding academic achievement in Philosophy and the Classics, respectively. Nicholas Beim took a year off of Stanford to work with 60 Minutes in the Soviet Union and study at Moscow State University. While there, he also served as a lead researcher on the book Charlie Wilson's War. Following his undergraduate career, Nicholas Beim was honored as a Marshall Scholar and attended Oxford University, where he earned a Master of Philosophy in International Relations and participated on the St. Antony's rowing team.<br/><br/>After successful tenures at firms such as McKinsey and Company and Goldman, Sachs & Company, Nicholas Beim is now a General Partner with Matrix Partners, one of the top-performing venture capital firms in the United States. In the past, Nicholas Beim’s firm has been an investor in a number of key companies such as Apple, Cascade, Sonus Networks, Veritas, and Tivoli. Matrix and Nicholas Beim also backed JBoss, an open source application server vendor acquired by Red Hat in April 2006 for $420 million.<wbr/><br/><wbr/><br/>Nicholas<wbr/>Beim is a board member at Endeavor, a non-profit organization formed to support entrepreneurial ventures in developing countries. Endeavor has helped hundreds of new businesses in South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Uruguay, and Nicholas Beim is helping the organization accelerate its international expansion.
