About Joseph Schlessinger
Dr. Joseph Schlessinger is the founder of New Haven, Connecticut-based pharmaceutical firm Kolltan. Dr. Joseph Schlessinger’s extensive background in chemistry, combined in with his positions on Kolltan’s scientific advisory and management boards have led the company to new opportunities in research and drug discovery. Financially, Joseph Schlessinger has been extremely successful as a fundraiser for Kolltan, helping the firm raise close to USD $40 million in just over a year of operations. In the academic sphere, Dr. Joseph Schlessinger has distinguished himself through a variety of positions. Currently Joseph Schlessinger, PhD holds the position of William H. Prusoff Professor and Chair of Yale University’s Department of Pharmacology. In this role, Dr. Schlessinger is responsible for a research group operating out of Yale’s Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Schlessinger additionally trains graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. In the lab, Dr. Joseph Schlessinger performs critical scientific research into the elucidation of mechanisms of Receptor Tyrosine Kinases (RTK) activation. Joseph Schlessinger possesses a B. Sc. in Chemistry and Physics from Hebrew University. Mr. Schlessinger remained in Jerusalem at the Hebrew University for his M. Sc. in Chemistry. Joseph Schlessinger earned both of his degrees from Hebrew University with honors, and his scholastic achievements did not end there; in 1975 Joseph Schlessinger was awarded his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute for Science.
