Corporate attorney Jefferson Rees carries nearly two decades of experience in litigation in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as on a national scale. Currently, Jefferson Rees serves as Vice President of Domestic Law at oil and gas company Pioneer Natural Resources in Dallas, which he joined in 2006. Operating in the second-highest legal position at Pioneer Natural Resources, Jefferson Rees manages the overall legal strategy of the company’s domestic operations, and he participates in discussions related to the development of new oil and gas opportunities when they arise. The various responsibilities that Jefferson Rees partakes in at Pioneer Natural Resources include handling the legal aspects of drilling contracts, joint operation and production sharing agreements, data licensing and marketing efforts, gas sales, and farm-in and farm-out interests. Jefferson Rees also manages the implementation and coordination of various internal compliance policies, as well as Pioneer’s SEC disclosures. To ensure the success of these legal endeavors, Jefferson Rees provides quarterly presentations to Pioneer’s board of directors, regularly communicates with the company’s Management Committee, and supervises the company’s in-house attorneys and any outside counsel it hires. Prior to joining Pioneer Natural Resources, Jefferson Rees served for eight years as Assistant Corporate Secretary and Senior Counsel of oil and gas conglomerate ConocoPhillips Company, originally Phillips Petroleum Company. Over the course of his career at ConocoPhillips, Jefferson Rees developed many of the company's complex commercial agreements, oversaw the firm’s $500 million legal contingency reserve fund, and handled FTC (Federal Trade Commission) antitrust and SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) compliance disputes.
