Confident in his nephew’s skills, Galen Maddy’s Uncle Frank asked Galen Maddy for help when he encountered obstacles in obtaining the veteran benefits he was qualified for. Galen Maddy’s uncle was attempting to secure a little-known pension known as Aid & Attendance, meant for non-service military personnel. Although Uncle Frank was eligible to receive these benefits, Galen Maddy noticed that there was an enormous hurdle of paperwork to get over before his uncle could receive the aid he deserved. Galen Maddy eventually succeeded in procuring pension benefits for his Uncle Frank, a World War II veteran, and he decided he would do whatever he could to help other veterans in similar situations. The Veteran’s Friend was born of the promise Galen Maddy made to himself. Since founding The Veteran’s Friend, Galen Maddy has been laboring to educate all eligible parties on the monies available to them should they lack the funds to support themselves during disability or retirement.
