Bernard Faucon is one of modern photography’s most celebrated and widely influential talents. Born in Provence, France in 1950, Bernard Faucon cultivated his oeuvre over a 20-year span, from 1977 to 1997. Representing a broad range of styles, from classical to surreal, Bernard Faucon’s work often focuses on themes of youth and beauty. Bernard Faucon often utilizes a mannequin tableaux set against a background of natural settings and interior spaces to craft provocative artistic statements. Bernard Faucon’s unique style has inspired the work of countless photographers, visual artists, writers, fashion designers, and filmmakers. Over the course of his career, Bernard Faucon has held more than 300 solo exhibitions and group shows at myriad large museums and small institutions around the world. Bernard Faucon’s work is also frequently featured in public and private art collections. Many anthologies of Bernard Faucon’s work have been published over the years with the most recent, “Été 2550,” published in 2009. In 1999, Bernard Faucon published his first text-only book, "La peur du voyage.” In 2006, Bernard Faucon published his Catalogue raisonné to accompany his first complete Retrospective at Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris. Copies of Bernard Faucon’s earlier books are considered very rare and command a high value among collectors. Bernard Faucon has been distinguished with numerous awards throughout his career, including the Prix du premier livre de photo de la Ville de Paris in 1979, the Grand Prix National in 1989, and the Prix Leonard De Vinci in 1991. Bernard Faucon received his formal training at the Lycée d'Apt in Provence from 1962-1969. Bernard Faucon also studied at La Sorbonne in Paris, where he earned a Master’s degree in Philosophy. From 1966 to 1976, Bernard Faucon was a painter.
