A licensed Independent Social Worker, Ms. Ava Dorrance has lent her expertise to a number of positions over the past two decades. Since she started in the social work field, Ava Dorrance has gained significant clinical experience through the various roles she has undertaken. In her most recent position as a Psychiatric Social Worker, Ava Dorrance was responsible for a bevy of responsibilities. In addition to conducting evaluations, assisting with court committals, and providing therapy to individuals, families, and groups, Ava Dorrance worked extensively with children suffering from behavioral disorders. Ava Dorrance also served as a counselor for children and adolescents in the Atlantic schools. Ava Dorrance maintains memberships in the National Association of Social Work and the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD). Ava Dorrance’s dedication to helping others extends far beyond her professional career. Active in a numerous charitable activities, Ava Dorrance is committed to doing her part to improve the community. A member of the YMCA Service Club, Ava Dorrance played an instrumental part in obtaining funding for the YMCA daycare program. Ava Dorrance additionally assisted with the YMCA Summer Camp program. Active in her church, Ava Dorrance has cooked and served meals for the needy. An alumna of the University of Iowa, Ava Dorrance earned her Master of Social Work with a GPA of over 3.5. Ava Dorrance also possesses an undergraduate degree in Art and Museum Science. Determined to provide the best service, Ava Dorrance pursued a number of certifications, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Advanced Ericksonian Hypnosis, as well as certification as a Mindful Coach. Outside of work, Ava Dorrance enjoys a wide variety of activities. An animal lover, Ava Dorrance possesses a particular affinity for birds and is a member of the Iowa Ornithologists’ Union and the National Audubon Society. Ava Dorrance is a resident of Iowa.
